"Wowing the audience with his confident, articulate grooving, funky chops and jazzy feel, [...] with session standard timing and bags of style." - Drummer Magazine

“I have seen John grow over the many years I have known him not only as a person but as a very competent and talented young musician who has very promising drumming career ahead of him.” - Mike Dolbear

John is currently completing his BA(Hons) degree in Music Industry Practise at The Academy of Contemporary Music (Guildford), under the tutoring of Pete Riley (Guthrie Govan, Rupublica), Andrew Small (Kylie Minogue, Massive Attack) and Tobias Drummond (Wicked, Cliff Richard).

His achievements are already building quickly. John attained his grade 8 Drums with Distinction through Trinity College London at aged 16 and is now himself a committed educator, giving one to one lessons and performing in drum clinics and masterclasses alongside the likes of Scott Pellegrom (Drumeo) and Jost Nickel (Matalex).

In the early stages of John’s career, he was selected to perform in the young drummer of the year finals (Top 10) three years running (2014-2016); a national competition with over 500 entries per year.

From the moment he struck his very first beat, John's desire to play drums has never stalled. The passion and commitment he has towards his instrument has led him to study many different musicians, techniques and genres, feeding his musicality and ambition whilst his love of music and versatility informs his natural sense of groove and creativity.

John has been playing professionally for the past four years in a diverse array of settings. From backing pop artist ‘Kristian Eastwood’, Hip-Hop group ‘The Broken Orchestra’ and rock bands ‘Wake Up in Vegas’ and ‘Lonely Ocean’, to theatre productions of ‘Singin’ in the rain’ (Hull New Theatre) and ‘Avenue Q’ (Hull Truck Theatre).

John strives for excellence in everything he does but never lets that get in the way of the things he loves most, teaching others and jamming with other musicians.
